Baruch Houses TA - Food Relief & Beyond Event - 5/19/22

It was a great turn out at the UA3 Community First food distribution event, co-hosted with the Baruch Houses Tenant Association on May 19th at 72 Columbia Street, Lower Eastside Manhattan.  Food and fresh vegetable, face masks, hand sanitizers, Girl Scout Cookies, Vita Coco Coconut Water as well as goodies contributed by United Way, Trader Joe, Trinity Church - Wall Street, Con Edison, Tay Shing Corp., Empire BlueCross BlueShield, Vision Urbana, Henry Street Settlement, and Grand Street Settlement were distributed to 2,500+ community members at this one location alone as well as distribution to thousands more in locations through our pickup/distribution with our CBO-100 member organizations in Brooklyn and Queens.

Volunteers from many organizations including Welcome Chinatown, Lions Club, Murals for Good, Cross Country Consulting, Trinity Church-Wall Street, Tai Shan Du Hu Association of America, and Hamilton Madison House helped out at this special event.

We thank State Senator Brian Kavanaugh, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, Councilmember Christopher Marte, as well as representatives from Governor Hochul, Mayor Adams, AM Niou, AM Epstein's Offices for taking time from their busy schedules to join us to greet members of the community and in acknowledging that more needs to be done to combat food insecurity and to ensure food justice for all members of our community.

We also thank all our partners and volunteers for their help in making this event successful!
